Regency extending standard lamp
Regency extending standard lamp
6478
A Regency extending mahogany standard lamp with ormolu mounts, circa 1810. Later converted to electricity. As is common with early standard lamps that have been converted to electricity the flex enters at the top of the lamp with the cable hanging down. An elegant solution to electrification without excessive alterations.
Regency period design is known for its elegant, refined style inspired by classical Greek, Roman, and Egyptian designs. Characterised by clean lines, slender legs, and minimal ornamentation, Regency pieces often incorporate luxurious materials such as mahogany, rosewood, and ebony inlays. Brass accents and intricate veneers are common, lending a sophisticated yet understated opulence.
Rewired with brown twisted fabric flex and PAT tested.
