A very fine Arts & Crafts steel and copper table lamp, possibly by William Arthur Benson, circa 1905.
William Arthur Smith Benson (1854-1924) was a prominent British designer and craftsman associated with the Arts and Crafts movement. He is best known for his innovative metalwork, particularly in lighting and household items, combining functionality with aesthetic beauty.
Benson's designs often featured clean, elegant lines, and he skilfully worked with materials like copper and brass. A close friend of William Morris, Benson's contributions helped shape the movement's emphasis on hand craftsmanship and the integration of art into everyday life.
Rewired with brown twisted fabric flex and in inline switch. PAT tested.
