Smart three-piece Art Deco silver tea set made in the late 1930s, at the peak of the Art Deco era. Each ball-shaped body is mounted on a stepped pedestal base and fitted with pleasing c-shaped handles. The fruitwood teapot handle is probably apple or pear, matching the button finial on the lid, and the interiors of the sugar bowl and milk jug are nicely gilded.

The capacity of the teapot is 600ml (21 fl oz) or enough for about five cups of tea.

Art Deco, short for Arts Décoratifs, was a style of visual arts, architecture and product design that first appeared in Paris in the 1910s and flourished in the United States and Europe during the 1920s to early 1930s. During its heyday, Art Deco represented luxury, glamour, exuberance, and faith in social and technological progress. The designs featured rare and expensive materials, such as ebony and ivory, and exquisite craftsmanship.
