Antique 1st standard French La Regence pattern cutlery set for 12 in canteen
Antique 1st standard French La Regence pattern cutlery set for 12 in canteen
6983
Wonderful and complete 12 setting silver cutlery service in the classic French, La Regence pattern, made in 1st Standard silver at the turn of the 20th century. Émile Puiforcat was a specialist in making silver flatware and cutlery. French first standard refers to the silver content in the pieces - 950 parts silver per 1000 versus sterling silver which is 925/1000.
The La Regence design was introduced in France during the time of Napoleon II. The flowing leaf pattern, shell and scroll edging are typical of the designs from this period and the flared handles on the spoons and forks perfectly reflect the continental patterns of the 19th century.
All pieces are fitted in their original canteen box lined with cream velvet & silk, and marked with the retailer's mark - W Frogier, Nantes - and the set set comprises:
12 table forks
12 dessert forks
12 tablespoons (soup spoons)
12 dessert spoons
12 teaspoons
12 table knives with steel blades
12 dessert knives with silver blades
1 soup ladle
1 basting spoon
The weight shown does not include the knives.
