Our client provided us with photographs of his pet golden retriever from which our silversmith made a wax model, which in turn was used to create a 3-D mould. In the traditional, centuries-old, technique of lost wax casting, the molten silver was poured into the mould and once the silver solidifies the wax is melted and drained away. The heavy-gauge model of the retriever was then carefully hand chased to produce the lifelike features and character of the individual dog.
