A Charles II bronze mortar, East Anglia, dated 1664

Attributed to Foundry X, Suffolk, cast with two crowned Tudor roses, centred by the date panel '1664', the reverse cast with 16th century style motifs, namely two strapwork panels and scrolling fruiting vine panel, with associated pestle, (2).

See the Wellcome Trust Collection, ref. A604250, for a very similar mortar, again dated 1664.
