A fascinating rare Charles II panel of silk and metal thread embroidery, circa 1660

Designed as the surround for a mirror, unused and uncut, worked in coloured silks, metal threads and purl threads on a silk ground, the series of motifs including Prudence, a gentleman with a laden cornucopia, a lady with a tulip, a lion, a leopard, a unicorn and a stag as well as flowers, insects and a sundial amongst oak leaves, framed with conservation grade glazing.
