An outstanding Henry VII/VIII joined oak coffer, circa 1500-20

Having a quadruple panelled hinged lid, the front with two panels, each proficiently carved with a full and part interlaced roundel filled with 'mouchettes' and leaf-and-berry triforms, centred by a flowerhead-filled guilloche muntin rail, below a nulled carved rail, each end panel with incised-carved leafy sprigs radiating from a small vase, on robust stiles with scroll profiled front spandrels

This imposing coffer belongs to a small group of other known examples, all with bold geometric carved fronts and the distinctive floral vase carved ends. They are likely to have been produced in one particular workshop
