A rare and impressive 18th century three-legged joined and boarded 'lambing chair', North Wales, circa 1730-70

With fine sculptural and tactile qualities.
Having an impressive fruitwood one-piece slab back and matching wings, each passing down through the thick seat and held in place with pegs, boarded sides below flat, outsplayed and round-ended pine arms, on chamfered square-section supports descending to front legs, joined by a plain fore rail, the single rear splayed leg mortice and wedged through the slightly dished slab seat.
