Collection "Smile"
The characters of the "Smile" collection embody empathy and represent openness to otherness, to difference and the not-yet-known. In the paintings, familiar references, notably facial and bodily expressions, are weaved into an equivocal emotional whole that questions the viewer's identity and the possibility of identification. The colors and contrasting luminosity opens the viewer to a playful world where strangeness and difference aren't threatening or alienating but sources of joy and fulfilment.
