Amélie Vallières
Amélie Vallières is a painter based in Laval, Quebec. She holds a degree in Visual Arts and a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the Université de Montréal. Her practice is grounded in extensive iconographic research and an examination of visual narratives inherited from the Western tradition.
Working primarily in oil, Vallières creates female portraits in which the precision of the gaze engages with a fluid and expressive gestural language. Her work explores the representation of the female body through myth, religious narratives, and collective memory, offering contemporary reinterpretations of historically codified images.
Her work has been presented in a variety of exhibition contexts and contemporary art fairs, notably in Toronto and Montreal. She is currently developing projects structured around narrative cycles, investigating the intersections between art history and contemporary feminism.
